AppsTV Box and Philips TV
The Hotel is using majority of AppsTV boxes with existing TV from Levels 12 to Level 26, along with some of the rooms with only Philips TV (Without AppsTV)
The reason for such a mixture is that, initially, all the rooms were having AppsTV boxes, and then, the Hotel started to gradually replace the Old Hotel TVs with the new Philips TVs.
The Hotel is upgrading the TVs from Level 22 to Level 26 to Philips. However, not all the rooms on these levels have been migrated to Philips TV yet.
Room Service Menu (In-Room Dining menu)
- The Hotel has a Room Service Menu (In-Room Dining) whose contents are parked on the Local AppsTV CMS Server (and not on estv.cloud).
- The reason is that the existing AppsTV Box Launcher is not able to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS, which is causing the Dining Menu to not load on the AppsTV Box.
- The estv.cloud is running on HTTPS whilst the Local CMS is running on HTTP.
- So, future updates to Dining Menu needs to be done under the AppsTV CMS.
Hotel Information
- The Hotel Information is also parked under the the Local AppsTV CMS Server for the same reason as that for the Room Service Menu.
There are 2 different independent hardware based CMS Servers. Both these servers can communicate with each other (if needed) for any content sharing amongst each other:
1. AppsTV CMS Server
- This CMS Server is able to control only the AppsTV Boxes.
- It can be accessed using the Local CMS through AnyDesk or TeamViewer or using the Remote Link of DynDns.
2. CMND Philips TV CMS Server
- This server cannot be remotely accessed via a remote link, and needs to be accessed using the TeamViewer or AnyDesk.
- This server can control only the Philips TV.
- There is Excel Services Interface that is being run on the same Server on which the CMND Server is running.
- The PMS brand is HMS (from BrilliantEZ)
- The Interface is responsible for pushing the Guest Name to the CMND through the use of HTNG Protocol (Protocol by Philips CMND to communicate with the Philips TV).
- This is also necessary to Activate Netflix Application on the Philips TV.
- esGate is being used as the Internet Gateway in HGC James Cook.
- The Captive Portal has been turned off temporarily, so the Hotel Guests can directly use the Internet by simply connecting to the Hotel Wireless SSID.
